Target stated, conformance not certified
Target: WCAG 2.2 Level AA. This build has not been audited for certified conformance.
The site is built so that the format, date, divisions, and registration can be understood and used by everyone, with a keyboard, a screen reader, a phone in bright sun, or with motion turned off. The target is WCAG 2.2 AA. That is a target, not a claim of certified conformance.
Keyboard
Every control works with a keyboard: navigation, the menu, the registration form, the lap-time buttons, the map controls, the question search and accordions, and the bell. The opening bell sequence can be skipped with any key or its Skip button. A skip link goes straight to the main content. Focus is always visible, and sticky elements reserve space so they never cover the focused control.
Screen readers
Pages use landmarks and one heading hierarchy. The exact date, hours, location, and format are normal text, not only graphics. The thirty-six-bell sequence has a text summary, and its loop marks are hidden from assistive technology rather than read out one by one. The countdown is not a live region. Live announcements are limited to the rest calculation and search-result counts.
Motion
With "reduce motion" turned on in your system settings, the opening bell sequence does not play, the loop is drawn from the start, and all thirty-six bell marks are shown immediately. There is no route drawing, no bell pulse, no parallax, and no scroll-linked animation. Every piece of information and every action is still there.
Audio
Sound never starts on its own. The bell plays only when you press "Hear the bell", and the same button stops it. The visual pulse gives the equivalent moment without sound.
Touch and zoom
Controls are at least 44 pixels tall. Nothing requires dragging. The layout reflows at 320 pixels wide and at 200 percent zoom.
Known limitations of this design build
- Payment is not yet connected to the registration form; the payment step will be reviewed for accessibility when it is added.
- The optional live map is a third-party embed whose accessibility is outside this site's control; the drawn map and the text describe the location without it.
- Placeholder artwork is described as such; real photography will get descriptive alternative text.
- A full screen-reader, high-contrast, and 400 percent zoom review is scheduled for production.
